Sussex was battered by strong winds and heavy rains as Storm Ciarán made its way across the country.
Huge waves of up to 15 feet hit the coast yesterday, with gusts of up to 60mph and heavy rain.
An amber weather warning for wind was in place for most of Sussex on Thursday as the Met Office warned of a possible “danger to life” from flying debris.
Damage to homes and power lines is anticipated, along with disruption to road, rail, ferry and air travel.
What is thought to be a small tornado ripped through Lancing, tearing tiles of a roof and damaging fences.

On Hove seafront, benches and bins were knocked over and shingle was thrown in the waves and wing.
Boots in North Street, Brighton was declared unsafe after sustaining damage in the storm.
According to police, parts of the corrugated roof came loose. Businesses within the cordon could not be accessed.
While the worst of the storm seems to have passed today, a new weather warning for rain has been issued for Saturday afternoon and into the evening.
The Met Office warns of frequent heavy showers from 3pm to 11.59pm across the county.
