Worthing Pier will be closed tomorrow as Storm Ciarán strikes the Sussex coast.
Gusts of up to 80mph and heavy rain are forecast tomorrow as the storm hits the south coast of England.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning from 6pm to 8pm tomorrow covering most of the county, including Chichester, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings.
The weather service has warned that Storm Ciarán could bring down power lines and trees and send debris flying, which could result in a “danger to life”.
There is also the potential for large waves and beach material to be thrown onto the seafront.

Owners of the Perch restaurant on Worthing Pier confirmed the closure earlier today and said: “Due to strong winds and safety concerns, we regret to inform you that the pier will be closed on Thursday.
“The weather forecast indicates extremely high winds.
“We understand this may inconvenience you and want to provide ample time for alternative plans.”
