Fire crews are battling to prevent an electricity substation from flooding after a weekend of downpours.
Emergency services are working to prevent the site, which is understood to power as many as 30,000 homes, from flooding.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue have a high volume pump at the scene to prevent the substation from flood water.
Wet weather across the county caused widespread flooding in Bognor and Hastings, with a tornado striking Littlehampton - causing damage to homes.
Part of the A29 in Bognor, between the Orchard Way roundabout and the Oaklands Way roundabout, remains closed in both directions until further notice as fire crews continue to deal with flooding.
A yellow weather warning for rain is in place for most of Sussex until 6pm today, with as much as 35mm of rain expected in coastal areas.
More wet weather is also forecast later this week as Storm Ciaran is expected to strike the UK with more heavy rain and very strong winds.
The storm, expected to hit on Thursday, could bring winds of 90mph on the most exposed coasts with 25mm of rain in southern England.
