Supermarkets were deluged, roofs were ripped off and there were countless closures as the county was battered by torrential rain and high winds all weekend.
A yellow weather warning for rain had to be extended twice by the Met Office and will now end this evening.
An amber warning was also issued briefly between 9.30pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.
Nine flood warnings and more than 20 alerts were issued by the Environment Agency as local authorities warned people to stay away from seafronts and take care if travelling.
On Sunday, residents in Wick awoke to the aftermath of another tornado.
The roof of one home was ripped off and debris scattered over the ground.
Investigators from the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation visited the village on Sunday morning and confirmed the tornado.
The village was hit with a similar event only two months ago.
Sussex Police supported the fire and ambulance service in North Street, Littlehampton, after phone lines collapsed onto a property at around 7pm.
The severe weather forced Littlehampton Bonfire Society to cancel its procession and fireworks on Saturday night.
Hastings town centre was severely flooded for the second time this year after a water main burst.
South Terrace was closed and Priory Meadow Shopping Centre evacuated while firefighters tried to tackle the waters.
Flood water was cleared but the road and shopping centre remained closed on Sunday.
Firefighters were also called into help with clearing water from parts of Worthing due to blocked drains.
Photographs showed West Beach in Lancing swallowed up by flood water as well as Climping.
Images showed large waves battering Climping beach’s tired sea defences.
Roads leading to the beach were branded “impassable” by Arun District Council.
In Bognor, the car park at Tesco in Shripney Road was flooded and the superstore's neighbour Riverside Caravan Centre was also hit.
Trains between Ore and Ashford International had to be cancelled for most of Saturday morning due to flooding between Hastings and Ashford International.
A landslip between Lewes and Brighton caused disruption on the railway on Sunday morning, although it was quickly cleared.
And the weather felled may trees, forcing roads to close including the B2110 at Handcross.
More bad weather is on the way later this week with the arrival of Storm Ciarán, which is expected to bring “damaging winds”.
A yellow weather warning for rain comes into force at 6pm on Wednesday.
This weather warning is due to end at 11.59pm on Thursday.
A yellow weather warning for wind will also join the mix from midnight on Thursday until 6pm the same day.
