A man has been charged after a stabbing in the city centre.

Joel Elliott, 33, of Springfield Road in Brighton, is accused of stabbing a man in the early hours of the morning on October 9 along Trafalgar Street, also in Brighton.

The man suffered multiple stab wounds following an attempted robbery.

Witnesses provided crucial care until emergency services arrived at the scene.

The victim has expressed his thanks to those who assisted him following the attack.

Elliott appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody to await his next appearance on November 21.

Detective Inspector Donna Ward said: “Members of the public should be able to walk the streets at night without the fear of violence, and we are dedicated to ensuring that those who try to infringe upon this right face consequences.

“We thank the members of the public who have assisted with our enquiries, as well as those who helped the victim in his most vulnerable moments.”
