A Latin-inspired food and drink night is coming to a pub.
The event, called Fiesta at the Rock Inn Pub, is hosting an event focused on the Mexican liquor mezcal which is made from the agave plant.
Private chef Nick Jaye has teamed up with Erika Martinez Leon who works for Gente de Mezcal for the Latin-themed event tonight in Rock Street, Kemp Town, Brighton.
Nick, 59, from Brighton, said: “The whole process is to highlight the mezcal but to also enjoy the food as well.
“I am very excited. I love cooking, it does not matter if I am peeling potatoes or cooking a dish.
“We have called the event Fiesta at the Rock Inn Pub because it is mainly to do with Latin flavours. We are doing a collaboration with Gente De Mezcal. Erika does different flavours of mezcal. With that in mind I have taken the mezcal and used it with Latin dishes myself.
“It is a fusion of flavours which people can try as a meat or vegetarian course.
“Using the mezcal it has been about invention and creating something new. It will be a nice event.
"I met Erika at the Rock and she asked me to do a collaboration. It has been in making for about two months.
“You get two shots of mezcal, a main dish and double chocolate brownie with a mezcal and lemon sorbet."
Nick has created a menu inspired by the liquor includes a Cuban sandwich with a mezcal salsa or vegetarian African casserole. This is followed by a dessert which has mezcal in a lime sorbet.
The event, which starts at 5pm, is £29.99 per person for a main course, dessert and two shots of mezcal.
People interested can turn up at the door but booking tickets on Eventbrite will guarantee food.
