Parents with children in Year 6 are being urged to apply for their secondary school place as applications will close soon.

The deadline for Brighton and Hove schools for next September is October 31.

Parents can apply on the council's website at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

The council also explained catchment areas.

Children who live in a school's catchment area have a better chance of getting a place there than those who live outside the area.

If more children apply for a school place than there are places available, those who live in the catchment area get offered a place first.

A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: "If you feel you need help or advice with school place applications please email schooladmissions@brighton-hove.gov.uk or phone 01273 293 653 if you don’t have internet access."
