A highly rated pizza restaurant is set to close after four years and become takeaway only.
Nanninella in Preston Street, Brighton, rated as a Travellers’ Choice by Tripadvisor, has shut its doors to dine-in customers.
The restaurant is currently running a limited menu on Uber Eats and collection only and, from Sunday will be “taking a break from pizza for a while to focus on our next step”.
Nanninella’s owners Sergio Ronga and Madeleine Death said they are expecting a baby in March, which has influenced the decision.
They said: “Our passion for the food has unfortunately taken a back seat recently and, for this reason, we want to bring it to basics and just focus on really good food by ending dine-in.
“We opened Nanninella when our daughter Ilaria was a newborn baby. Some of you may remember us waiting tables with her in our arms and many have watched her grow up.
“We have another baby joining us in March next year, making the Nanninella family grow. This has also been a big part of this decision too.
“Now we will be able to cherish more precious time together as a family.”

Nanninella had been rated five stars on Tripadvisor, with diners praising its “genuine Italian pizza”.
One customer went as far as to say the restaurant had the “best pizza outside of Italy”.
“I travelled from London to come here - it’s the only place you should come to if you are looking for the best pizza in the UK,” the diner said.
The couple said they will be announcing a new project “in the coming weeks” and thanked those who have supported the restaurant over the years.
They said: “We are so proud of what we have achieved in four years. A lot of people have named us the best pizzeria in Brighton and Hove and that’s what we wanted to accomplish when we first set out.
“We couldn’t have done it without the staff that have worked with us over the years. Nanninella wouldn’t have been the same without some of the great characters who have been a part of the team.
“Thank you for all the support - it’s not the end, it’s a new beginning. Like the phrase goes, as one door closes, another opens.”
