Brighton Palace Pier is the UK’s most crowded tourist attraction, according to a recent study.
Research by Accor found that the pier, well-known for its amusement rides and arcade games, attracts crowds of almost 4,500 people at peak times - more crowded than the Colosseum in Rome, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Vatican Museums.
The pier also placed in the top 20 of European attractions that are “worth the wait”, scoring higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Palace of Versailles and the Louvre Museum.
Brighton Palace Pier scored highly for its “experience rating”, based on Google reviews to measure average sentiment.

However, the pier missed out on the title of the best UK attraction that is “worth the wait” to the Southbank Centre.
Among European attractions, the Puy du Fou theme park in France, the Orsay Museum in Paris, and the City of Arts and Sciences complex in Valencia, Spain, took the top three spots.
While the Palace Pier was found to be the UK’s most crowded attraction, the Palace of Versailles, the Lovre Museum and Park Guell in Barcelona were found to be the most crowded attractions in Europe.
