Peter Kyle has promised that a Labour government would harness technology and put it to work for everyone regardless of background.
Speaking to delegates at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, the shadow science secretary and MP for Hove slammed the Conservative government and said: “Their chaos and instability is bad for innovation and bad for investment.”
Mr Kyle said that a Labour government would implement ten-year research and development budgets to build long-term partnerships and lead to investment in new technology and infrastructure.

“We will go further than ever before to make Britain the best place to innovate,” he said.
“We have universities and research institutes that lead the world. We have the workforce and unions with the skills and knowledge to deliver.
“What’s missing is a government with the vision, energy and determination to deliver.
“In Labour with Keir Starmer’s leadership - they will.”
Mr Kyle was appointed as shadow science secretary last month after serving as shadow Northern Ireland secretary for almost two years.
