Residents of a block of flats in Brighton are still unable to return to their homes after a serious fire at the building.
Flats in Richard Allen Court in Saunders Park View went up in flames over a week ago with residents evacuated and placed in temporary accommodation.
Brighton Housing Trust confirmed that the residents had not yet been able to return to their homes, adding that they had set up a hardship fund to support those affected by the blaze.
David Chaffey, chief executive of BHT Sussex, said: “We would like to thank East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Sussex Police and Southeast Coast Ambulance for their support at the scene, along with Brighton and Hove Council and the team at the Brighton Alliance Church who provided a place of rest for tenants whilst we organised alternative accommodation for them.
“We have been approached by several supporters and locals who want to know if there is anything practical they can do to help residents affected by the fire, and so have set up an online Hardship Fund appeal which people can donate to.
“The money raised will go towards helping residents with unexpected financial costs and replacing their belongings. We are also donating money from our own Hardship Fund of £7,000 for this purpose.”

Donations to the hardship fund can be made through BHT Sussex’s JustGiving page.
12 flats have been affected by the fire after explosions and screams were heard at the scene just off Lewes Road.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing screams and seeing fire erupted from the roof and windows by the building.
BHT Sussex added that minor injuries were reported but that no-one was seriously hurt in the blaze.
Residents and pets have been accounted for and Brighton and Hove City Council previously set up a rest centre for around 17 residents whose homes went up in flames.
The charity added that they were “working closely” with the council to determine the best next steps to help displaced residents.
