More improvements to the A27 will begin this autumn after an initial round of roadworks earlier this year.
Plans to improve the road had been in the works with resurfacing already completed in Lancing, Shoreham and Southwick.
Now, further projects will begin later this year focusing on improvements and refurbishments to other stretches of the road.
Peter Phillips, National Highways route manager, said: “It is vital that National Highways’ motorways and major A-roads are kept in good condition to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and keep traffic moving.
“This investment in Sussex means that we can continue our work to deliver smoother road surfaces, safe bridges, improved signs for the thousands of road users who use the A27 daily.”
Among the new projects are plans to repair sections of the Adur Viaduct, which will begin on November 13.

The stretch of road between the Falmer junction of the A27 and the Southerham roundabout will also receive maintenance and repairs beginning next Friday.
Finally, the A27 in Salvington will also receive some road resurfacing and improvements designed to reduce the risk of skidding.
Previously, sections of the A27 had been resurfaced between Grove Lodge roundabout and the Lancing Manor roundabout as well as on parts of Old Shoreham Road.
As well as resurfacing, sections of the Patcham viaduct had also been repaired.
Cat van Doorn, National Highways project manager, said: “From talking to local people and feedback from our consultation earlier this year, it is clear there is an appetite for improvements to be made to this stretch of the A27. There is a significant amount of development planned in the area and without improvements, traffic congestion and delays are likely to increase. “Over the coming months we will continue to review all the feedback from the public consultation, as well as other assessments, to ensure the scheme we put forward is the right option for drivers, and people living and working in the areas.”
The plans come as National Highways consider a £20 million scheme to also improve the A27 in Worthing and Lancing.
