Hundreds of families took to Brighton’s streets on their bikes as part of a campaign for safer roads for cyclists.
Kidical Mass saw around 300 cyclists off all ages riding along the streets to call for cycling infrastructure improvements.
The ride, part of a global cycling campaign, also aimed to promote safe cycling skills for children who joined the event.

One rider, aged 5, said: “I loved it because I got to ride on the road for the very first time. I can ride on the cycle lanes to stay safe but there aren’t very many of them.”
The event began at Hove’s peace statue as well as feeder rides from The Level and Hove Park. The group then cycled around the city before stopping at Hove Town Hall.
Iliana Koutsou from campaigners Bricycles, who organised the event, said: “The huge turnout shows how passionate families are about building a better Brighton and Hove. Cycling improves children’s and young people’s physical and mental health.
“In a cost-of-living crisis, bikes provide cheap transport for those who need it.
“But getting children on bicycles requires more cycle lanes to be installed, such as the urgent improvements along Valley Gardens and Kingsway. We're calling for bold action to change our city for the better – our children deserve nothing less.”
Brighton Bike Hub and Old Shoreham Road BikeTrain also helped to organise the event.
