A bakery is launching new gluten-free, vegan dog biscuits.
Bagelman in Church Road, Hove, will sell the homemade treats made by Love Chloe, a dog biscuit company.
Jo Prior, the chief executive of Bagelman, launched her first store in 1999 in Bond Street, Brighton, and now has three in Brighton and Hove.
The shops have always been dog-friendly and a lot of her customers bring their pups along, so she wanted to sell dog treats so they can enjoy them while their owners tuck into the fresh bagels.
All the profits raised from the sale of the dog treats will be donated to the Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare in Ringmer, near Lewes.

Jo visited the centre recently and was impressed by its work improving animals' lives.
She said she plans to adopt a dog in the near future.
Jo said: “I look forward to this venture with both Raystede and Love Chloe. This is a very simple way for me to support everything that Raystede does at the animal welfare sanctuary. I’ve always encouraged my customers to bring their pups with them into my stores, and now they can give them a treat as they enjoy our artisan, freshly baked bagels.”
Eve Entwisle, the founder of Love Chloe, she said: “After adopting my own dog, I realised there was a gap in the market for offering gluten-free, 100 per cent natural, vegan dog biscuits for dogs with sensitive stomachs, so that’s why I started the business. I’ve been supporting local animal charities since the beginning, so I was super excited to be involved in this initiative and support Raystede.”
Janet Parsons, head of marketing at Raystede, said: “We are very grateful to Bagelman and Love Chloe for supporting us and helping us raise awareness of Raystede’s work rescuing, rehoming and providing rehabilitation for injured and unwanted animals in need. This is a great opportunity for local businesses to support one another, whilst supporting animals that we all love and care for.”
