A recycling site has been forced to close following a gas leak.

The site, near Old Shoreham Road in Hove, has been temporarily closed as a result of the incident.

It is understood the site will remain closed until the area has been made safe.

Brighton and Hove City Council have urged people to use the alternative recycling site off Wilson Avenue in Brighton.

A council spokesman said: “Our household waste recycling site in Hove is temporarily closed due to a gas leak.

“The site will remain closed until it is safe to reopen.

“Please use our alternative recycling site in Brighton, off Wilson Avenue.”

Gas company SGN has been approached for comment.
