A yellow weather warning has been issued for Sussex with thunderstorms expected to buffet the south coast once again.
The Met Office has confirmed that thunder and lightning could hit Sussex over an eight-hour period this afternoon and this evening.
The yellow weather warning comes after a week of hot weather with Sussex now seeing a turn towards more autumnal conditions later in the week.
An announcement on the Met Office website warned of “heavy showers and thunderstorms perhaps causing some flooding and disruption in a few places”.
The warning also said that drivers could face difficulty due to spray and flooding and that some communities could be cut off due to floods.

Despite the warning, no thunderstorms are featured on the hour-by-hour Met Office forecast for Brighton.
The Met Office previously issued a separate weather warning for thunderstorms at the end of August where parts of Brighton faced torrential rain.
Disruption is expected from 12pm today until 8pm in the evening.
The warning also covers the entirety of the South East of the country including London, Kent and Norwich.
