From traditional British establishments to international cuisine, there is something for everyone in this city.
To help you decide where to grab a bite to eat this weekend, The Argus asked readers for their top lunch spots.
Dozens of readers shared their favourites, from the best roast dinner restaurants to market stalls to fish restaurants.
One standout was Regency Restaurant in King’s Road, Brighton, with half a dozen commenters saying it is their favourite lunch spot in the city.
Richard Goodliff said the restaurant offers “great seafood” and many Facebook users agreed with him.
Wendy Heal, from Rottingdean, also named Regency as one of her top picks, saying: "The Regency, Côte and Bill's to name a few. We are spoilt for choice really.”
A family favourite was Donatello, the Italian restaurant in the picturesque Lanes with a conservatory, bar and outdoor dining areas.
Eight commenters gave their vote to the ever-popular pizzeria. Helen Hildreth said it is “hands down” the best place for lunch in Brighton.
Many favoured venues offering variety, with several votes going to the seafront food market Shelter Hall and the Open Market in London Road.
Sally Mitchell, from Brighton, said: “Shelter Hall on the beach has lots of choice.”
Stephen Elliott said: “Almost anywhere in the Open Market. It's great in there these days.”
Some favourites vendors from the Open Market were Flying Saucer, a café which offers toasted sandwiches, pastries and a range of hot drinks.
Smorl’s Kitchen, a vegan café offering houmous, falafel and salads was also mentioned.
The Mucky Duck, a pub in Manchester Street, Kemp Town, was also recommended.
Suzi Walker, from Newhaven, said it offers the best roast in Brighton on Sundays. Meanwhile, the Kemp Town pub serves Thai food every weeknight and lunchtimes Tuesday to Saturday.
Honorary mentions go to Lucky Beach, a beachfront café selling brunch, burgers and beers.
Pinello, a Mediterranean restaurant opposite the i360 also got a couple of mentions.
Others mentioned include Moksha, in York Place, known for its brunches, Tapas Revolution in North Street and Oowee Vegan, a vegan fast food outlet in Market Street.
