A man has been arrested by police at Gatwick Airport after allegedly assaulting a police officer and refusing to get off a plane.
The “heavily intoxicated” man was arrested by Sussex Police at the airport late on Sunday evening following the incident believed to have affected an Easyjet plane.
Cabin crew are believed to have called police for assistance on the flight before the man was removed from the plane by officers. He remained in custody in the early hours of this morning.
A Sussex Police spokesman said on X (Twitter): “A heavily intoxicated, aggressive male is in custody this evening after he initially refused to leave an outbound aircraft.

“Upon arrest he has assaulted an officer. A long chat in the morning awaits once he's sober.”
Police officers at Gatwick Airport were pictured next to an Easyjet flight following the incident.
Easyjet were approached for comment.
