A police officer who made lewd and abusive comments about a woman’s looks and mental health has been barred from policing again.
PC Morgan Pearson, from Chichester, made the comments while detaining a woman in April, 2022.
A disciplinary hearing into his conduct heard that ex-PC Pearson, 24, spoke to the woman in a “derogatory and threatening manner” as well as using excess force to push her head down while she was being detained.
He also later made comments about her including lewd, abusive and discriminatory remarks about her looks and her mental health.
Sussex Police Chief Constable Jo Shiner said: “The actions of this officer have tarnished the name of Sussex Police, discredited thousands of hard-working and supremely conscientious colleagues and above all else, failed the people of Sussex who put their trust in us.
“Protecting vulnerable people is a priority for Sussex Police and we take any report of inappropriate behaviour extremely seriously. There is no place in the force for such conduct which had been reflected in the outcomes of the hearing today.”
In a disciplinary hearing yesterday, Chief Constable Shiner found that Pearson would have been sacked from the force had he not already resigned in June 2022.
Pearson was added to the College of Policing Barred List, meaning that he is banned from policing in the future.
