A man has been arrested after a police chase on the A259 involving police dogs and helicopter.
Officers chased a Citroen Picasso along the road with support from the police helicopter with the car racing away and ramming a police car.
After the search was dropped, police and dog units later descended on the car found by the side of the road and arrested a 25-year-old man.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The Citroen Picasso, which had already been drawn to police attention, was spotted by officers around 4.30pm on Monday, August 28, on the A259 Pevensey Bay Road.
“A pursuit was authorised, supported by a National Police Air Service helicopter, but was aborted by ground-based units for the safety of other road users and after it had rammed a roads policing car.

“It was relocated a short time later in Dutchells Way, Eastbourne, following a call from a member of the public, with the occupants having decamped.
“A dog unit was deployed and soon after a 25-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving other than in accordance with a licence and possession of cannabis.”
Police confirmed that the driver remains in custody this afternoon. The vehicle was recovered for forensic investigation.
The Citroen was recovered with damage to its driver’s side wing mirror while a police car also suffered damage in the chase.
Two other people who were in the car are being sought by police after fleeing the scene.
