A takeaway has been told to improve after being handed a new one out of five food hygiene rating.
Magic Wok, a Chinese takeaway in Preston Street, Brighton, was given the one rating by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), a government department which monitors food safety and hygiene.
The one rating means that “major improvement” is necessary.
Other Brighton restaurants and cafes have been handed new ratings too.
Kenny's Rock And Soul Cafe in Kensington Gardens received a “good” four rating, as did Ricardos Cafe At Patching Lodge in, Park Street, Kemp Town.
Dishy, the café in Blakers Park, Brighton, also received a four out of five rating.
Takeaway The West Pier Fish And Chips got a three rating, meaning food hygiene is “generally satisfactory”.
These new ratings mean that of Brighton and Hove's 870 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 667 (77 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
There are six different ratings that a venue can be awarded from 0 to 5.
5 - Hygiene standards are very good
4 – Hygiene standards are good
3 – Hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
2 – Some improvement is necessary
1 – Major improvement is necessary
0 – Urgent improvement is required
