A fisherman was shocked to have caught a 30lb shark off the coast of Brighton while out fishing for turbot.
Nick Williams and the Brigand Charter crew were out fishing ten miles out from Brighton Marina when they felt a “massive pull” on one of their lines.
After a battle to reel the fish in, the crew pulled the porbeagle shark out of the water making it the first time they have caught the creature in eight years.
Nick said: “After a few tense moments of playing the fish it was in the net and on the boat and then after a few quick pictures it was safely released back to the sea.

“In eight years of charter fishing in Brighton, this is the first time we have boated a shark. We have seen a few and had a few unknown big fish snap offs but this is the first caught and landed on a charter boat in many, many years.”
Porbeagle sharks are a type of mackerel shark related to white sharks. They're native to the North Atlantic Ocean and also around Brighton Marina.
The sharks can usually weigh up to 300lb with the creature caught by Nick and his crew in August weighing around a tenth of the weight of an adult.
