Sir Keir Starmer has praised Sussex as being a “fantastic place for a holiday”.
The Labour leader visited Worthing earlier this week, speaking to local residents, business owners and students.
Sir Keir described Sussex as being a “very special place” as the county prepares to bask in the sunshine over the Bank Holiday weekend.
He said: “Sussex is a fantastic place for a holiday. Both of my sisters live in Sussex, so this is an area I know very, very well.
“It’s a very, very special place.”
It comes as many prepare to head to the Sussex coast to enjoy the Bank Holiday.
Although Brighton and parts of Sussex are expected to endure thunderstorms and rain on Saturday, drier conditions are forecast over the weekend, with a high of 20C on Monday.
Sir Keir visited Coast Cafe in Beach Parade, Worthing, and met owner Barrie Reading to discuss rising prices and the cost of living crisis.
