Rail services from Brighton have been suspended after a person was hit by a train.
Services from Brighton to Portsmouth Harbour and through West Sussex have been disrupted as emergency services continue to respond to the incident.
The incident, first reported just after 5pm, means that trains from London Victoria are also affected.
A Southern spokesman said: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Portsmouth Harbour and Barnham. All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.
“The service that usually runs between London Victoria and Portsmouth & Southsea will terminate and start at Chichester instead. Services that usually run between Brighton and Portsmouth & Southsea will be suspended until further notice.”
Services to Southampton that would normally split at Horsham will now no longer do so with the entire train now running to Bognor.
