Ten of the best restaurants in Brighton have been nominated on the shortlist for a prestigious restaurant award.
The British Restaurant Awards celebrates the best eateries in the country with chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Gino D’Campo on the list.
Now a selection of the best dining spots have been nominated in the category celebrating the top eateries in Brighton.
Etch
Etch earned its place on the list after becoming synonymous with fine dining in Hove at their site in Church Road.
The restaurant, opened by Masterchef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards, prides itself on British produce with mackerel and rabbit at the centre of their menu.
Terre à Terre
Terre à Terre based in East Street has offered fine dining for vegetarians and vegans in Brighton since 1993.
The mainstay of The Lanes serves a wide range of food at its Pool Valley site, including Korean fried cauliflower and an elevated battered halloumi as well as afternoon tea.
The Salt Room
The Salt Room by the Brighton Metropole hotel has been a favourite seaside restaurant for many years offering fresh fish on the seafront.
Different fishes are treated in several ways across the varied menu, from chargrilled monkfish with a peppercorn sauce to salt cured cod with a coconut curry.
Tutto
Tutto in Marlborough Place offers an “Italian-inspired experience” and is the second nomination on the list from the owners of The Salt Room.
The restaurant cooks small sharing plates including beef carpaccio and agnolotti, or diners can opt for a varied tasting menu.
The Ivy in The Lanes
The Ivy in The Lanes won the award last year and is looking to retain its title again this year.
With several traditional favourites and seasonal specials, offerings including Shepherd’s Pie and Steak Tartare top the menu.
Furna
Furna recently made the prestigious Michelin Guide after just seven months in business from their site in North Street.
The ever-changing tasting menu includes an array of mouth-watering dishes including salt-aged duck, sweetbreads and scallops.
Embers
Embers offers a unique dining experience in Brighton with a range of cuisines cooked over a wood fire in Meeting House Lane.
On the menu are a wide variety of dishes including charred broccoli, flamed sea bass and centrepieces of hake and pork tomahawk.
Kindling
Kindling in The Lanes prides itself on its locally sourced products including using fermentation and preserves to creates fresh meals for all seasons.
In the summer, the meals range from grilled beef, trout ceviche and a Nutbourne tomato salad.
Cin Cin
Cin Cin in Western Road, Hove is being celebrated for its modern take on classic Italian dishes.
A wide-ranging menu takes in a variety of dishes from classic pastas to a venetian-style duck ragu.
The Chilli Pickle
The Chilli Pickle offers a spice-packed menu spanning the width and breadth of Indian cuisine at its Jubilee Square site.
Favourites like onion bhajis and samosas are paired with a selection of street foods including hot wings and gol gappa, a deep-fried breaded ball with potatoes and chickpeas.
The British Restaurant Awards are currently in their fifth year with the winners being announced on September 5.
