Brew-loving pals Wallace and Gromit are marking a milestone anniversary of one of their hit episodes with a special blend of tea.

Bird and Blend Tea Company in Brighton has created a tea to celebrate the 30th birthday of The Wrong Trousers, which hit UK television screens with the two characters on Boxing Day, 1993.

The company in Gardner Street created Wallace’s “every day brew of choice”, More Tea Gromit?, to help keep “all Wallace and Gromit fans fuelled while creating their marvellous inventions”.

Bird and Blend co-founder Krisi Smith said: “As a flavour creator, I took inspiration from the greatest inventor of all time, Wallace.

“Knowing he and Gromit would require a blend that would ignite new ideas, I opted for a traditional black breakfast tea but with a surprising and delightful twist.

“I really had fun inventing this blend and as a business we’re thrilled to be a part of Aardman’s celebratory programme.”

Aardman Animations, creators of Wallace and Gromit, said they are delighted to have the independent tea company on board for the celebrations.

Jess Houston, senior manager publishing and product development at Aardman, said: “Aardman are thrilled to be working with Bird and Blend on a new Wallace and Gromit tea.

“Wallace and Gromit are great tea drinkers and we know people will enjoy this drinkable tea blend. We look forward to hearing how customers enjoy drinking their cracking cuppa”.

The 30th anniversary party is set to be a big one, with a series of performances of The Wrong Trousers and orchestral accompaniment touring the UK, the release of a limited edition The Wrong Trousers clutch bag, a Wallace and Gromit exhibition opening in London and the launch of an escape room in Bristol based on the lovable duo.

A new Wallace and Gromit film is also in the works and set for release in 2024.

Nick Park, founder of Aardman, said: “It’s very exciting to have some brand-new Wallace and Gromit stories in the works as we celebrate the anniversary of such an important moment in the characters’ history.”

The Wrong Trousers was the first in the Wallace and Gromit series to win an Oscar.
