A woman was taken to hospital after reportedly being run over by a council van.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a woman being hit by a Brighton and Hove City Council vehicle while she was sitting in East Brighton Park.
The woman was treated for minor injuries after the incident. The council apologised to the woman involved.
One bystander, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “She was screaming in pain and one of her children ran up to the truck and was screaming and smacking the window crying that he [the driver of the van] was on his mum.
“The worker had walked over to the vehicle and drove straight into the back of the woman. Afterwards he reversed off her and went to check that she was alright.”
Sussex Police officers attended the scene after being called to reports of a van having collided with a pedestrian.
