A road has been closed after an overturned trailer left cows in the middle of the carriageway.
The A24 between Washington and Findon is currently closed with a group of cows in the middle of the road following the crash.
Emergency services have rushed to the scene with the road currently closed.
A trailer can be seen on its side in the middle of the road next to the livestock.
It is currently unclear what caused the incident.
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 3.55pm to reports of a vehicle towing a trailer that had overturned on the A24 northbound between Findon and the Washington roundabout.
“Joint fire control mobilised fire engines from Worthing and Horsham to the scene along with the service’s technical rescue unit.
“Upon arrival they found an overturned trailer containing eight yearlings, which have now been safely rescued and returned back to the farm in another trailer.
“The A24 was closed in both directions to allow firefighters to work safely. Drivers are urged to avoid the area for the time being.”
Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
