Music superstar Hozier wowed fans with a pop-up gig in the rain to celebrate 50 years of Brighton Pride.

The Take Me to Church singer surprised people with a busking set in the wet weather with fans crowding around to listen to his music.

Armed with just a guitar and his distinctive voice, the Irish musician sang some of his favourites with the crowd cheering and singing along.

Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Hozier wrote: “It felt so good to be in Brighton for the 50th year of the town’s Pride celebrations.

“I’m so glad to meet some of you out and about at the Royal Pavilion and sing a couple songs. Thank you for joining me and saying hello at Resident in-store and happy Pride.”

The artist also held a meet and greet at Resident record store in Kensington Gardens for fans as he prepares to release his newest album.

In Pavilion Gardens, Hozier’s acoustic set saw fans huddle round with coats and umbrellas singing along to some his most well-known tunes.

The singer played a brief set of three songs including Take Me to Church and Cherry Wine, also from his first album.
