A new pub will replace a former Wetherspoon site and is set to open this week.
The Cliftonville Inn in George Street, Hove, closed earlier this year after reports that the site had been sold.
Following months of speculation, the alcohol licence for the building has been updated the premises and the new owners have been confirmed.
Licencing application documents confirm that the former Wetherspoon pub was bought by Indigo Leisure Limited, which owns several Brighton-based bars including Molly Malone’s and The Wick Inn.
The new pub will be known as The Royal George.
The licence was updated on Friday, June 30, and will allow alcohol to be served from 9am until 1am on Friday and Saturday and until 12.30am from Sunday to Thursday.
The Cliftonville Inn was put up for sale in September, 2022, and was sold in March. The pub was one of four at the time of its closure including the Post and Telegraph in North Street, the Bright Helm in West Street and The West Quay in Brighton Marina.
The bar will also be slightly altered with the repositioning of the bar on the ground floor.
The Royal George will open on Thursday, August 10.
