MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt is set to open a café restaurant inside a cinema after announcing the closure of one of his businesses this week.

The new business is going to be called the Dome Café and will be inside the Dome Cinema, Worthing.

The application was made by “Oyster Foods Limited trading as Patty Guy” although it has not been confirmed whether the restaurateur’s chain will be coming to the town.

Kenny’s latest venture is licensed to be open between 11am and 11.30pm Monday to Sunday.

It will also be licensed to sell alcohol and play recorded music at these times.

Kenny, from Worthing, closed his restaurant Pitch on Monday due to financial difficulties.

The restaurant, which opened in May 2019, was the 41-year-old’s first venture since winning MasterChef the year before.

He told hospitality website Restaurant after closing Pitch: “It’s an emotional day for me and my wife Lucy. It has taken every fibre for us to keep it going.

“We have had some fantastic times, it’s been a real adventure."

It was the second restaurant Kenny and wife Lucy, who co-owns the businesses, had to close.

They closed Bayside Social on Worthing seafront in April due to “rising costs” and the “long-lasting effects of Covid on hospitality businesses”.

The application stated it was “seeking authorisation for the sale of alcohol for consumption on & off the premises and the provision of regulated entertainment in the form of recorded music”.

The consultation closed on July 10 and a committee hearing to approve or reject the application was cancelled as it was “not required”.

A spokesman for Worthing Borough Council said: “The Licensing Act encourages mediation and this was conducted successfully with the applicant addressing the responsible authorities' concerns by volunteering a number of enforceable conditions to the licence's operating schedule.

The Argus:

“As a result they withdrew their representations and consequently, the amended application was granted as applied for as per the terms of the Licensing Act 2003.”

Patty Guy, which has an outlet at Brighton’s Shelter Hall and in Hastings, sells a variety of burgers and milkshakes.

Kenny Tutt was approached for comment on his latest venture.
