A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of carrying a knife after armed police and a helicopter attended a residential street.
Police responded to reports of someone seen with a knife in New Road, Hellingly, near Hailsham, at 9.20am today.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Hellingly on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of a class B drug, namely cannabis, with intent to supply.
He remains in police custody at this time.
Armed police were also seen in Houghton Way. It is not known whether the incidents are related.
The Argus understands a house was searched.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Officers have thanked the public for their patience while this matter was dealt with.”
