Armed police, a helicopter and dog units descended on to a residential street.
Police were seen in Hellingly, near Hailsham, this morning at around 10.30am.
The Argus understands that a person was held and police searched a house in the area.
Armed police were in Houghton Way just after 11am.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of carrying a knife.
