A body has been found in the search for a missing man.

Joe Mattelaer, 24, was reported missing after last being seen on the evening of Wednesday, July 18.

Today, police have confirmed that a body has been found following his disappearance from Lewes last month.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We’re sorry to update that a body has been found in the search for missing man Joe Mattelaer.

“His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“They would like to pass on their thanks to the public and everyone who helped in trying to find Joe.”
