The body of a woman was found on a beach.

Police went to Seaford after a call from a beachgoer who had found the body of a woman on Saturday, July 29, just after 9pm. 

Coastguard rescue teams from Newhaven and Birling Gap also came to the beach to assist police.

“Our Newhaven and Birling Gap coastguard rescue teams supported Sussex Police in an incident near the shoreline at Seaford at about 9.20pm on Saturday, July 29," said a spokesman for HM Coastguard.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Police responded to a call from a member of the public who had found a body of a woman on the beach.

“The death is not currently being treated as suspicious but enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman. A file will also be prepared for HM Coroner.”
