MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt has closed his second restaurant in three months.
The restaurateur first closed one of his businesses, Bayside Social, on April 15 due to rising costs and the “long-lasting effects of Covid” on restaurants.
Kenny, 41, and his wife Lucy Tutt, who co-owns the business, said at the time they would be focusing on their other restaurant Pitch in Warwick Street, Worthing.
But Pitch has now closed as well due to “current economic struggles”.
The 2018 BBC MasterChef winner, from Worthing, was seen inside the restaurant today.
He told hospitality website Restaurant: “It’s an emotional day for me and my wife Lucy. It has taken every fibre for us to keep it going.
“We have had some fantastic times, it’s been a real adventure. I want to say a huge thank you to the customers that have supported us over the years. The laughter is ingrained in the walls here, there have been some really beautiful times.
“I would also like to thank my staff. We have a great team here and I will do everything I can to support them to remain in the hospitality industry.”
Kenny and Lucy opened Pitch in May 2019.
The restaurant focused on a “contemporary mix of modern and classic British food, wines and cocktails on the south coast”. It was also home to Pitch Cookery School.
Pitch made a loss of £161,000 in the 2021 financial year, the most recent accounts available for the restaurant.
Father-of-two Kenny is set to open a new cafe restaurant at Worthing Dome cinema.
