A man has died after being hit by a car on a zebra crossing.
The man, in his 70s, suffered serious injuries in the incident where a dark coloured saloon is reported to have struck the man and left the area.
Police confirmed that a "number of arrests" had been made in connection to the incident.
Following the incident on Upperton Road in Eastbourne at around 7.50pm on Wednesday, July 26' a Sussex Police spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, captured any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, or saw a dark-coloured saloon vehicle with a damaged windscreen in the area, is asked to contact collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Broomfield."

The incident closed part of the road near Ocklynge Road while officers carried out enquiries.
The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The investigation is ongoing.
