A specialist system is in place to prevent debris from entering people’s homes as the demolition of the Royal Albion hotel continues.
Contractors are using a “water suppression system” to minimise any dust that may be present as the building in King’s Road, Brighton, is brought down over the next two to three weeks.
Residents have also been told to expect high noise levels as heavy machinery demolishes much of the 200-year-old façade, but contractors are said to be working hard to reduce impact on neighbouring properties and roads.
“Barriers have been placed around the hotel to ensure a safe perimeter,” said a spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council.

“Our on-site contractor will use a water suppression system during the works to minimise any dust that may be present and will continually assess the risk.
“The fire service will continue to make regular visits to check on the structure and security will remain on site throughout.”
Anyone who sees excessive smoke or flames coming from the building, should call the fire service on 999.
