A weather warning for strong winds has been issued for Sussex for this weekend.
The yellow warning from the Met Office covers the entire county and is in place for Saturday with an “unseasonably windy day” forecast.
Gusts of up to 55mph are expected along the South Coast, with disruption to transport likely and “short-term loss of power and other services” possible.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “A deep area of low pressure will affect part of the UK on Saturday with some very strong gusts of wind likely.
“A blustery and showery day with some thunder will see winds gust widely to 40mph, and locally up to 50-55mph during the daytime.
“The strongest gusts are likely to occur mainly, but by no means exclusively, over hills and along the South Coast.
“Some minor damage and travel disruption is likely.
“Winds will moderate later in the evening and overnight.”
Many events are due to take place this weekend across the county, including the kite festival in Brighton, Trans Pride Brighton and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
