Brighton has been crowned the best place in the UK for a night out.
Research by business management consultant Public First looked at the size of the night-time economy across more than 100 major towns and cities in England and Wales.
Brighton and Hove clinched the top spot, beating Manchester, York and Newcastle.
The study showed Brighton had almost ten pubs and bars per 10,000 people and one nightclub per 10,000 people.
Public First said The Night Out Index focused on licensed establishments and did not consider unlicensed evening establishments.
The ten best places for a night out are:

4. Chester
5. Shrewsbury
6. Cambridge
7. Harrogate
8. Newcastle
9. Cheltenham
10. Manchester
The ten worst places for a night out in the UK are:
1. Slough
2. Basildon
3. Bracknell
4. Salford
5. Chatham
6. Harlow
7. Luton
8. Bradford
9. Redditch
10. Gillingham
