Four people were filmed being held at gunpoint in a city street as armed police swarmed the area.

The Argus has obtained footage of the moment plain-clothed officers swooped in on Seymour Street in Brighton armed with guns.

They pulled the occupants of a black saloon car out one by one while other police officers searched the boot of the vehicle.

They were told to put their hands on their head and walk backwards towards the officers, before being put on their knees and in handcuffs.

In the video, you can hear one officer - who is wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans - shouting: "Passenger on the left-hand side of the car, step out.

"Let's see your hands. Put your hands behind your head."

The officers were part of a team investigating a burglary in London two days before the arrests, on Thursday, June 15.

A group of people broke into a business in Russell Road, near Walthamstow, in the early hours of the morning and threatened the people inside.

On Saturday, a car linked to the incident was stopped in Brighton, where three men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
