A new bar which hopes to tap into late-night European café culture has opened in a stylish part of the city.

Night Shift, on the Seven Dials roundabout in Brighton, serves carefully selected wines paired with charcuterie and artisan breads.

It is a project between wine specialist Paul Gibson, Ollie Hyde from Flour Pot Bakery and Will Murgatroyd from Curing Rebels, with residents already giving the bar the seal of approval just two weeks after opening.

“It’s in a great position in a brilliant part of town, it’s been really good so far with lots of people saying that the area needed something like this,” said Paul.

“We want people to come in and be comfortable and to try something new.”

Nigh Shift, which is in the former Small Batch coffee shop, is open from 5pm to 10pm on Wednesdays and later on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until the end of October.

Paul said: “We’re hoping to open on Sundays soon and depending on the lease, may be planning to stay long term in the future.”
