Mermaids have flooded the beach as part of an annual glittery march to raise awareness for marine charities.
Scores of people turned out to walk down the seafront dressed in their finest mermaid costumes as part of a colourful day of events.
The march was part of a day of activities including a picnic and party at a beachside bar.
Sinead Stone came to the Brighton event from London to and used sustainable flowers and seashells sourced from her local fishmonger for her costume.
She said: “Friends of mine had been collecting corks for me and I was cleaning the shells with fairy liquid and a toothbrush.
“It was a brilliant event and a really good vibe, it was my first march and I will definitely be back next year.

“It’s a great way to raise awareness, I was brought up around the sea in Donegal so I’m really passionate about the causes.”
Sinead added that her costume was created with sustainability in mind and she was rewarded by winning the “Queen Mermaid” crown.
The event raised money for marine charities including Surfers Against Sewage and The Wave Project.
The march was accompanied by music and dancing and ended with a party at the Fortune of War bar.
