Bicycles will now be used in the city centre to collect recycling waste from businesses.
It is a scheme by Recorra and Zedify, a bicycle courier service, that hopes to reduce carbon emissions in the area and free up congestion.
The special bikes will be fitted in large boxes ready to whisk the waste away to be made into paper, which the company will then redistribute to offices in the city, along with other sustainable supplies.
“Businesses in Brighton know first-hand the logistical challenges in the city, with its busy narrow streets, limited collection times and parking issues,” said Recorra managing director Darren Hedges.

“The launch of our cargo bike service means we can work with our recycling and office supplies customers to overcome these obstacles meaning everyone in the city benefits from cleaner air and safer streets.
“It’s a quick and simple procurement change that can deliver real environmental improvements.”
Recorra, found in 1988 by Friends of the Earth, is based in Lancing and already operates in London and in several locations along the south coast.
