A motorcyclist who was spotted riding along the A259 while waving his hands “as if he was dancing” has been warned his bike could be seized.

Police officers reported spotting the rider of the white Honda MSX125 riding with no hands on his handlebars on Monday, June 19.

After stopping the motorcyclist by the side of Grand Parade in Hastings he was slapped with a written warning. Another written warning could see him lose the bike.

“While we do appreciate the happy disposition of the rider, riding a motorbike without hands on control is unsafe, reckless, and putting other road users at risk.

“The rider was issued with a Section 59 warning, along with words of advice.”

A section 59 warning can be used “Where a vehicle is found to have been used to cause distress, alarm or annoyance or used in an anti-social manner. In general, the warning can last up to 12 months.”

If a second Section 59 warning is issued within 12 months then the bike could be seized.
