A section of the A259 has been closed in both directions after a burst water main in the area.
The burst pipe in the early hours of the morning forced National Highways to shut the road in both directions with a significant diversion route in place.
A Highways update reported that utility companies were working to assess the repairs needed on the mains and the road had been closed to allow this work to continue.
Following the closure near Rye by the Brooklands roundabout, a Highways spokesman said: “The burst water main was first discovered at approximately 4am this morning. Utility companies are on scene and are assessing the water main for repairs.
