Residents said they heard an “explosion” and their houses “shook” in a fire last night.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a home in St George’s Road, Hastings, at about 8.40pm on Monday, June 12.
Nearby residents told The Argus they heard an "explosion" and their homes "shook" during the incident.
Crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service found the fire was out on arrival, but police were at the scene to close the road and an ambulance also attended.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “It is believed to have been started deliberately, and police are investigating the circumstances.
“Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote serial 1532 of 12/06.”
A spokeswoman for ESFRS said: “We were called at 8.12pm on June 12 to a fire in St Georges Road, Hastings. The fire was out on arrival and there were no casualties reported.”
