A football club whose midfielder will appear on Love Island has said they will “welcome him back to the team with open arms” at the end of the show.
Tyrique Hyde, who was announced for the hit ITV dating show earlier today, played for Lewes FC in the 2022/23 season.
After signing in October, Tyrique will now swap The Dripping Pan for the Mallorca sun, and the club say they are fully behind their player on the show.
Reacting to the news that Tyrique will appear on Love Islan, a club spokesman said: “Tyrique is a popular and engaging person and we wish him the best of luck on Love Island.
“Following its conclusion, we will welcome him back to the team with open arms.
“We really look forward to seeing him on the show.”
The footballer said he would "bring vibes, confidence, good energy and honesty" to the villa when he enters next week.

Tyrique added: "I don’t sit on the fence, if I have an opinion I will speak up. I’m also not afraid to go after what I want."
He is deaf in one ear and grew up with former Islander Toby Aromolaran, who reached the final previously and is also a semi-professional footballer.
Tyrique is the son of former Premier League footballer Micah Hyde, who made over 250 appearances for Watford.
Tyrique previously played for Colchester and Dagenham Redbridge and made his debut for Lewes in October 2022 in a 2-0 win over Margate.
The club narrowly missed out on playoff football this year despite a 3-1 last day win against Canvey Island, coming sixth in the Isthmian Premier League on goal difference.
Tyrique’s appearance on TV comes after Brighton-born Olivia Hawkins featured in the winter edition of the show, which was filmed in South Africa.
The newest series of Love Island is set to air on Monday, June 5, headed by presenter Maya Jama.
