Trains have ground to a halt after a swan blocked the tracks.
Services have been unable to move after the swan jumped on the line, with several trains cancelled due to the incident.
Train operator Govia Thameslink said it has called in wildlife specialists to help support the removal of the swan with passengers complaining they have been stationary for around an hour.
One passenger stuck on the train reported seeing a swan and a group of cygnets on the rails between Barnham and Chichester saying he had been stuck still for around 80 minutes.

The passenger added that he saw wildlife teams carrying the cygnets away from the tracks following the long delays.
A Govia Thameslink spokeswoman said on Twitter: “Due to animals on the railway between Barnham and Chichester, all lines are disrupted.
“We are unsure when trains will be able to move whilst the animals are retrieved.
“We are awaiting support from wildlife specialists to assist in moving the swan, as we believe it is protecting its babies, making it hazardous for staff to approach.”
Passengers have now reported that trains have resumed running.
