Two kittens died after they were thrown out of a moving vehicle at rush hour on the A259.
The two kittens were found close to death at different points on the busy main road but could not be saved after being taken to a vets yards away from where they were found.
Now, the “upsetting incident” is being investigated as it is believed that more kittens could have been thrown out.
Marie Stevens, an animal rescue officer for the RSPCA who attended the vets on May 22, said: “This is a really upsetting incident which all took place very suddenly during rush hour on a busy stretch of road through Southbourne.

“We believe there may have been more kittens found. One was definitely taken in by a member of the public and we hope to talk to them about what they may have seen.”
The RSPCA are now investigating the incident, which is believed to have taken place shortly before 9am at rush hour on a busy Monday morning.
Anyone who saw the incident in Southbourne, near Emsworth, is asked to get in touch with the charity so they can “piece together what happened”.
